PDRM – VTREC SPREADS AWARENESS ON THE IMPORTANCE TO PROTECT OUR VEHICLE THROUGH MINI-CAMPAIGN AT AEON MALL RAWANG

Rawang, 22 June 2024: The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) actively working to raise public awareness about vehicle theft via the implementation of Mini Campaign activities that focus on protecting vehicles from theft.  During the mini-campaign, VTREC emphasized preventative actions to avoid being a victim of vehicle theft.  This mini campaign also plays a significant role in protecting communities and lowering the incidence of vehicle theft.  At the end of the day, participants become more vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect their vehicles and avoid being the victim of a stolen vehicle.

The mini-campaign was held on the First Floor at Aeon Mall Rawang, Selangor.  It was attended by members of the public as well as from Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM).  Many activities have been prepared by VTREC such as words of advice for protecting our vehicle on the Awareness Wall, wheel of fortunes, quizzes and colouring contests which attract many visitors from the mall to join the VTREC booth.

YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid Co-ordinator of VTREC advised that important tips to prevent vehicle theft are always to park our vehicle strategically and select a visible and safe spot such as well-lit and visible to them.  If possible, park near the security camera and secured parking area.  Avoid parking in dark, secluded, high-crime areas or beside bigger objects such as lorries or dumpsters.

Among the participants that join the Wheel of Fortunes

 

 

 

Before playing Wheel of Fortune the participant needs to answer some knowledge transfer survey related to vehicle theft, directly the participant will be aware of the level of their readiness to protect their vehicle.  Participants also will stand a chance to get exclusive merchandise from VTREC for example pens, mugs, lanyards and notebooks.

Positive support and answers were received from participants as well as police officers at the Awareness Wall.  The wall was filled with ambitions, positive sentiments, and vows against the theft of vehicles.  It shows that the community in Rawang has a solid commitment to ensuring their community is protected from being a victim of vehicle theft.

More than 30 participation applications from six years old to 12 years old have been received before the event starts.  A variety of creativity by the participants was translated through the drawing paper provided by the organizer.  Contestants were given two hours to complete their artwork according to their creativity.  The event highlighted the diverse artistic talents of the young participants, resulting in a colourful and imaginative display of artwork that captivated the jurors.

As the mini campaign drew to an end, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTREC Co-ordinator led the prize presentation ceremony.  The winner of the Colouring Contest for this mini campaign is Batrisya Faiqah Dayana Afzanizam from SK Taman Sri Muda will take home the grand prize comprising a VTREC t-shirt, a goodies bag, a certificate and cash as much RM130.00.  The first runner-up is An-nur Batrisyia Nazhla from SK Bukit Kapar, she will receive a prize bundle comprising a VTREC ‘United Against Vehicle Theft’ t-shirt, a goodies bag, a certificate, and an award of RM100.00.  In the meantime, Puteri Qaisyah Qairiena from SJKC San Yuk clinched the title of second runner-up and will receive a VTREC t-shirt, a goodies bag, a certificate, and a prize valued at RM70.00.
