WANGSA MAJU, 18 May 2024: The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council (VTREC) in collaboration with Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) and AMANITA from Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Wangsa Maju continue the efforts to raise awareness of vehicle theft among the public and school children in Wangsa Maju district. The mini-campaign were organised in conjunction with Teacher’s Day and “Kempen Kesedaran Awan Kecurian Kenderaan VTREC 2024”.

With the theme “United Against Vehicle Theft,” the campaign aims to raise public awareness and advocate for behavioural changes to protect vehicles. This mini-campaign is a crucial platform for sharing knowledge and inspiring action, empowering individuals, communities, agencies, and other stakeholders to unite against vehicle theft. The event took place at AEON Alpha Angle Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.

VTREC Co-ordinator, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid reported that an average of 12 vehicles were stolen per day in 2023. “Helping people to safeguard their vehicles from theft and recognising unsafe parking areas is crucial for improving their safety.” Positioned as an impactful initiative, the PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness Mini Campaign effectively engages the public in heightening awareness and serves as a fundamental platform for empowering individuals and communities to drive impactful change in attitudes and behaviours concerning vehicle theft.

The Wheel of Fortune game that draws in crowds of visitors enable the public to learn on prevention of vehicle theft, it “Learn and Play”
Numerous activities were planned to inspire involvement in this mini-campaign, featuring an engagement wall, a wheel of fortune, a steering lock competition, quizzes, a doodle wall and concluding with a primary school colouring contest. The colouring contest attracted the involvement of 25 children, aged between 5 and 12. The colouring competition was held from 1.00pm to 3.00pm at the same venue. Each participant was given the chance to unleash their creativity and extend gratitude to their teacher on the provided drawing paper. Fostering awareness of vehicle maintenance from a young age is of utmost importance. Attendees, including both the public and parents, were invited to partake in diverse activities provided by VTREC. In addition, to showing support for their children, they were also able to collect a variety of complimentary souvenirs.
Visitors do not want to miss out the opportunity to try the VTREC Educational Games with interesting prizes, the feedback and participations were great.
As the mini-campaign drew to an end, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTREC Co-ordinator, led the prize presentation ceremony. The victor of the Colouring Contest series for this mini-campaign is Nur Keisha Amanda from SK Gombak Setia. Nur Keisha Amanda will take home the top prize comprising a VTREC ‘United Against Vehicle Theft’ t-shirt, a goodies bag, a certificate, and RM130.00. Securing the title of first runner-up is Sophie Eryna from SJKC Wangsa Maju. As part of her achievement, she will receive a prize bundle comprising a VTREC ‘United Against Vehicle Theft’ t-shirt, a goodies bag, a certificate, and an award of RM100.00. In the meantime, Nur Adelia Qistina from SK Pandan Jaya clinched the title of second runner-up. She will be presented with a VTREC t-shirt, a goodies bag, a certificate, and a prize valued at RM70.00.
